Hi there! My name is Lindsay Mortimer and I am the founder and artist behind Hudson Ceramics. I began my business in 2021 as my pandemic hobby became a passion. I had been working in NYC for over 20 years as a fashion & textile designer and felt it was time for a change. Hudson Ceramics jewelry is the result of my design experience with pattern, color, and shape. My designs are sophisticated, bold, and modern and will elevate any look.
I'm in no rush!
This New Yorker needs a minute! My handmade process is therapy, truly! There is something wonderful about tuning out thoughts and focusing on making something by hand that is so relaxing. I am able to explore as an artist without distraction, cultivating mindfulness and having fun! The collections I create have emerged organically as I explore new techniques in ceramic surface design, sculpture, and metal work.
In the Studio
Here's a little peek inside my studio on a day when I was working on some new screen printed designs. I tried a few different colors to see what worked. The abstract pattern and square shape seemed to work well together. This is the fun of the work, there are always surprises!
Nobody's Perfect!
Handmade, artisan work isn't either. And that's the beauty of it! I embrace and celebrate the imperfections that naturally occur in the process. I hope you do too!
